Georgia documents are classified in a system developed by the staff of the Map and Government Information Library at the University of Georgia. It is based on the California State Documents System.

The first line identifies the state <GA> for Georgia. The second line identifies the agency, subagency, commission, etc., responsible for issuing the document. The succeeding lines indicate the type of publication, date of publication, etc., and documents are shelved line by line. For example:
