JRMC 8020: Public Opinion

Created for JRMC8020, but useful as an interdisciplinary guide to public opinion and polling, with an emphasis on method and evaluation.

Find Databases by Journal

Sometimes it is easier to look for a known respected journal and see what database access is available for the title, than to start searching in a communications or multidisciplinary database. For example, Public Opinion Quarterly and the Journal of Survey Statistics and Methodology are two journals you may want to search.

Start your search on the library website
Select the pull-down menu and "Journals by Title"

Enter your search
Select the correct Library Catalog record

OPTIONS: You can select Online access, and if there is only one online access source, you'll go to it. If there are multiple online sources, or if you click on the title of the record, you'll go to a list showing the data ranges. This is important because you can wind up in a resource that doesn't have what you need if you select the wrong date range.

Find Articles in Databases

For information about polling, try a larger interdisciplinary or federated database search like Multisearch, JSTOR, or Academic Search Complete.

To attempt to discover recent polls, try newspapers.
