Accessibility at the UGA Libraries
The UGA Libraries offer a variety of services to ensure access to library collections and resources for individuals with disabilities.
UGA Disability Resource Center
The Disability Resource Center assists the University of Georgia in educating and serving students with disabilities who qualify for admissions, and also strives to promote a welcoming academic, physical, and social environment for students with disabilities at UGA. The DRC’s mission is to ensure equal educational opportunities as required by the ADA and other legislation.
UGA Institute on Human Development and Disability
IHDD works to create opportunities that will improve the quality of life for people with disabilities and their families, and to ensure that all people can achieve their highest capacity and quality of life. IHDD advances the understanding of the abilities of all people through education, research, and public service.
Disability Studies Courses & Certificate
The Institute on Human Development and Disability offers Disability Studies courses to graduate and undergraduate students at UGA. Additionally, IHDD offers a Certificate in Disability Studies which provides undergraduate and graduate students with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to promote the true inclusion of all individuals with disabilities as fully participating members of our communities and nation, with all the rights accorded to every citizen. The certificate is available to undergraduate students from any school or college at UGA. It is designed to supplement degrees granted from academic departments across campus, including those in disability-related fields.
Destination Dawgs
A program serving students with intellectual disabilities between the ages of 18-25 to gain skills for self-determination, independent living, and career development at the University of Georgia. Participants will gain new knowledge, skills, and competencies which lead to a rewarding adult life.
Georgia Disability History Symposium
The Georgia Disability History Symposium is presented annually by the Richard B. Russell Library in collaboration with the University of Georgia’s Institute on Human Development and Disability and the Georgia Disability History Alliance. The symposium showcases topics of interest to disability advocates, self-advocates, scholars, researchers, archivists, public officials, and organizations. Videos of past symposiums dating from 2015 forward are available on YouTube.
UGA Equal Opportunity Office – ADA and Accessibility
The Equal Opportunity Office houses the ADA Coordinator and provides information about ADA and accessibility, accessibility rights, ADA and Rehabilitation Act, accessibility resources, service animals, and more.
Disability Parking
UGA Parking Services is dedicated to providing available parking for customers with disabilities that meets or exceeds the provisions of the ADA. Every effort will be expended to meet the needs of customers with disabilities.
Extra Special People at UGA
ESP@UGA is a student organization that serves to connect UGA students with Extra Special People, which is a non-profit organization in Watkinsville, GA, that creates opportunities for people with developmental disabilities and their families to engage, connect, and thrive through summer camps, after school programs, family counseling, and more.
