UGA Libraries Makerspace is a participatory learning environment that inspires curiosity, exploration, and innovative uses of technology to support the research and academics at UGA. UGA Libraries Makerspace cultivates an environment of discovery, critical thought, and project-based learning and is open to all UGA students with a valid UGA ID in good standing for educational, non-commercial making purposes.
Visiting researchers/scholars may receive a UGA ID by registering with the Office of Research Personnel. Visiting researchers/scholars must also submit a UGA Library responsibility voucher. This voucher also allows remote access to Library e-resources.
Carrie, an Education student was introduced to Makerspace technology and instruction opportunities with her Teaching and Learning with Technology EDIT 2000 class. After, Carrie, completed the 3D Design + 3D Printer training on her own to learn how to design and 3D print UGA's arch as a gift for herself.
Jiya learned about the UGA Libraries Makerspace from a friend who searched online to see if UGA offered a makerspace. To date, Jiya's learned to use the Makerspace’s embroidery and sewing machine, button maker, and Cricut to bring her creations to life. Jiya is currently using the embroidery machine to personalize baby clothes for her newborn niece. Jiya is a 4th year Computer Science student who will be returning in fall to pursue her Master’s in Emerging Media and Cybersecurity.

A Lamar Dodd School of Art student in Demi Thomloudis's ARST 3660 CAD/CAM for Objects and Jewelry course learns to use the Form 3+ resin 3D printers to print a ring she created in Tinkercad. Resin 3D printers create solid, water-tight items with a high-resolution.
Baylen, a first year Civil Engineering student, learned about UGA Libraries Makerspace when visiting with his First-Year Odyssey Seminar taught by Warnell School of Forestry & Natural Resources, Dr. Joe Dahlen. Since that visit, Baylen participated in the Makerspace’s Beginning Arduino workshop and learned to use the laser cutter. Baylen’s laser cutter projects include creating an engraved gift on wood for a friend from one of their drawings and engraving a photograph of Baylen playing trombone in the Redcoat Marching Band.
