Miller Learning Center:
Knitting or crocheting – what’s the difference? North tower, 3rd Floor East wing, Tuesday, January 24, 3:30pm
Learn the basics of both styles of working with yarn and see examples of finished objects. Helpers will demonstrate both crafts and get you started. We will have free yarn and a limited number of free needles and hooks to give away.
Beginning knitting North tower, 3rd Floor East wing, Thursday, January 26, 3:30 pm
Learn how to begin and end your knitting project by casting on and binding off your needles, as well as the knit and purl stitches. Free yarn and patterns will be provided, with a limited number of free knitting needles. Enter a raffle for door prizes of knitting supplies, books and luxury yarn!
If you would like to purchase your own supplies and need info, or have other questions on either event, email Sandra Riggs, sriggs@uga.edu
McBay Science Library Makerspace:
Knitting workshop series: basics and taking it up a notch!, Friday, January 27 and February 3, 1pm, (2 one hour sessions) Register here.
If you’ve never touched knitting needles before but would like to learn how knit fabrics are constructed, this class is for you! These 60 minute workshops will use simple projects to cover casting on, knit and purl stitches, increasing and decreasing stitches, and binding off. This series is limited to four UGA undergraduate student participants and registration is required. Participants must be able to attend both workshops in the series. Supplies provided. Contact Diane Trap dtrap@uga.edu if you have questions.
