Scholarly Book Reviews

Many scholarly journals have a book review section.  In many cases, our online article databases include these book reviews. See the list of GALILEO databases for your subject, and try searching one for the title of your book to find reviews.

Some major scholarly databases that include book reviews:

  • Academic Search Complete (in Advanced Search, can limit document type to book reviews)
  • JSTOR (can limit to book reviews in Advanced Search)
  • Science Direct (under Journals tab, can limit document type to "book review")
  • Web of Science (can choose "book review" under document type in search interface, or limit after search)

There are also print indexes of scholarly book reviews, which are especially useful for older books:
