Judith Ortiz Cofer (1952-2016) was a critically acclaimed writer, who wrote in multiple genres including, short stories, poetry, and non-fiction essays. She often focused on the experience of being a Puerto Rican woman in the U.S. She had strong ties to New Jersey and Georgia, and specifically to the University of Georgia where she was Emeritus Regents' and Franklin Professor of English and Creative Writing.
This guide will give you biographical context, access points to her works, as well as resources to critically examine her works.
