GIL-Find: GIL-Find is the UGA Libraries' catalog for locating books, ebooks, and media in the Main Library, Science Library, and Special Collections. GIL-Find Universal Catalog
WorldCat: A shared catalog of books owned by libraries worldwide, although mostly in North America, Great Britain, and Western Europe. Use the Advanced Search to search by subject.
Google Books and HathiTrust: Although not traditional library catalogs, Google Books and HathiTrust are projects that digitized print collections in a number of major university libraries. Both are useful in mining the contents of books on library shelves. Some of the books are out of copyright and may be read online. Others are still within copyright and can only be viewed in snippets, but you can still search for keywords within them. Once you've identified a book you need, if it's not available online click on 'Find in a library' or search GIL-Find.
Sign in at the top of the page on the black bar next to the site search. If you are not already logged in, you'll be prompted to log in whenever you may a book request -- ask for an item to be held.
Users are limited to 10 open requests at one time. Once the requested 10 books are picked up, more can be requested. There is no limit on the total number of books that can requested.
Pickup locations include the Main, Science, Curriculum Materials, Music, and Art Libraries on the UGA Athens campus, the Carnegie Library Learning Center on the UGA Health Sciences Campus in Athens, as well as UGA locations in Griffin, Gwinnett, and Tifton. You will be notified by email when requested items are available at the pickup location. Same-day pickup is not available for this service.
