Getting Started
- What is the agreed upon definition of a systematic review?
- What role do you expect the librarian to play in the process (identifying relevant SR examples? database recommendations? keyword and search development? software recommendations? expert searcher?)
Scoping the Review
- Is this appropriate as a systematic review question? Would another type of review match the topic better?
- What is the scope of the review question? What are the eligibility criteria for the included studies? What type of research will be included in this review (Randomized Control Trial, Cohort, etc.)
- What related reviews have been previously conducted on this topic?
Product of the Review
- What is the purpose of the review?
- What is the expected deliverable, such as a journal article, thesis dissertation, or guideline?
- What standards(s) will be followed for conducting and/or reporting the review?
- Is a protocol required to be registered? Where should it be registered?
Project and Data Management
- Who will be on the team for the review? Who will be consulted?
- What is the deadline for the review?
- What software will be used for citation management, project management, coding the data, communicating, and so on?
