The Athletic - New York Times: Home

The Athletic, a New York Times company, delivers in-depth sports coverage of your favorite teams and leagues. Access includes everything from breaking news and live commentary to long-form features, exclusive interviews, podcasts, and more.

The University of Georgia Libraries provide access to The Athletic for all current students, staff, and faculty members. Read below for instructions on how to activate your complimentary access.

Please note: The Athletic and The New York Times Higher Education Membership are separate products. All users will need to activate access and log in separately to these websites.

UGA users can activate their gift subscription to The Athletic by following these steps:

1) Click this link to redeem your one-year gift subscription to The Athletic.
NOTE: If you already have a personal account to The Athletic, you will need to log out of your personal account before clicking on the redemption link.

2) Redeem the Gift Subscription
If this is your first time using The Athletic, click the Redeem Gift button. If you are a returning user click on Log In, and login with your credentials.

3) You will be taken to a new page where you can create an account.
YOU MUST USE YOUR UGA EMAIL TO REGISTER FOR AN ACCOUNT. You may use the same account credentials you use to log in to your New York Times Higher Education membership.

4) If you have successfully created your account you will get the message "Your gift has been redeemed!" Click the Go to Home button.

To access The Athletic after you've created your account:

Once your account is created, access theathletic.com from any web browser, signing in with username and password if requested.

To use with a tablet or mobile device, download the app for Apple or Android.

Note: Gift subscriptions are active for 52 weeks. Users will need to renew their access once a year by going to the link in Step 1 above.
