For the Spring 2021 semester, the Main Library, Science Library and Miller Learning Center will be open until midnight most weekdays with earlier closing times on the weekends. Hours at some of our other locations will also be shorter this semester. The shorter hours allow cleaning crews to meet campus guidelines for disinfecting high-touch surfaces in the Libraries’ study spaces. See: More information about safety measures.
UGA Libraries locations are open to UGA affiliates as well as the general public.
For more information, see our Full List of Library Hours. Please note we are still finalizing hours for some locations.
Library books can be requested and picked up at the campus library of your choice.
To request book pick up: Search for the book in the GIL Find catalog and click on the title. After you sign in (above the location/call number), click on the blue 'Request' link that appears.
Library employees are not able to make faculty deliveries to departmental offices at this time in order to promote social distancing on campus. Via the GIL Find catalog, faculty may request books for pick up at the campus library that is most convenient for them.
Books may be returned to the Main Library's outside book drop (in the parking lot off Jackson Street) at any time. Books may also be returned during open hours at any campus library except Special Collections and the MLC.
Please note that books are quarantined for up to 72 hours upon return, so they will not be cleared immediately from your account. We backdate the return date to match the date the item was returned.
Automatic renewals should occur twice if no hold has been placed on the book by another patron. You may also renew them yourself in your library account. If you need assistance, please call our Access Services office at 706-542-3256 or email email@example.com.
With the restoration of access to UGA’s print collection on August 10, UGA is no longer eligible for the HathiTrust Emergency Temporary Access Service that has provided digital copies of our print holdings during the Libraries’ closure. More information.
