For the Fall 2020 semester, the Main Library, Science Library and Miller Learning Center will be open until midnight most weekdays with earlier closure times on the weekends. Hours at some of our other locations will also be shorter this semester. The shorter hours allow cleaning crews to meet campus guidelines for disinfecting high-touch surfaces in the Libraries’ study spaces. See: More information about reopening and safety measures.
For more information, see our Full List of Library Hours. Please note we are still finalizing hours for some locations and service points. This list is, therefore, subject to change.
Library books can be requested and picked up at the campus library of your choice.
To request book pick up: Search for the book in the GIL Find catalog and click on the title. After you sign in (above the location/call number), click on the blue 'Request' link that appears.
Library employees are not able to make faculty deliveries to departmental offices at this time, in order to promote social distancing on campus. Via the GIL Find catalog, faculty may request books for pick up at the library that is most convenient for them.
Books checked out prior to or during the COVID closure, and due up to and including August 10 will not incur overdue fines. They may be returned at any time at the book drop location in the Main Library’s parking lot or at any campus library except Special Collections and the Law Library. Please note that we are working through a large backlog of returned books. It may take some time before books are cleared from your account.
Automatic renewals should have occurred, but you can try to renew items in your account if you need to. If you still need assistance, please call our Circulation office at 706-542-3256 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Notifications that were suspended during the closure were reinstated at the start of the semester.
With the restoration of access to UGA’s print collection on August 10, UGA is no longer be eligible for the HathiTrust Emergency Temporary Access Service that has provided digital copies of our print holdings during the Libraries’ closure. More information.
