Summer Reading Lists for Local Schools: Welcome!

Summer Reading Lists linked to UGA Libraries' holdings

Summertime, Books & More

As you know, summer reading helps students keep their skills up. Besides, it's fun! This page gathers together the reading lists from local schools and links the titles to our holdings here at UGA. There are also additional sections for different topics that affect all types of students. The call number is displayed in the list and you can also click on the link for each title to get more information. At the end of May, those links may not work due to the implementation of a new library catalog system, but the call number information will still be visible. When the new system is up & running we will update all the title links.

Unless otherwise indicated, all the books listed here are in the Curriculum Materials Library, 207 Aderhold Hall, which has a huge collection of children's literature, from board books to Young Adult (YA) lit. One of our major collections is the Aaron Collection, which has over 20 years' worth of award winners. We're open to anyone who with a UGA Id card. Not a member of the UGA family? You can still use us! "Outside Borrowers" can get a card by following the information on this page.

We do not own all the titles on all the lists, so sometimes an alternate title has been suggested. The hope is that these pages will help parents & students have more free access to books.

In addition to these prepared lists, you can always search for and discover new books on your own. Use GIL (our online library catalog) to see what we have. You can search by author, title or keyword. We're the largest library system in the State, so get your (tax dollars) money's worth! Ask for help if you need it. That's why we're here!

Parking is sometimes tricky, so the buses are usually the best plan. In the evenings after 6pm & all day Sunday the gated lot on Green Street is open and you can park next to Aderhold. Aderhold Hall is also on the city bus routes!

Questions? Please ask! My contact information is to the right. Email me, call me, or stop by.

Many thanks to my student workers in the CML, Libby Polak, Maya Stagg, Josh Buffone, Audrey Smith & Kiara Portillo, for their help in constructing the lists. Without their help, this Summer Reading List page wouldn't have been ready before Thanksgiving! Thanks also to the media specialists who so willingly shared their lists!  Also, my colleague, Laura Shedenhelm of the Libraries graciously provided the Spanish translation. Muchas gracias, Laura!
