The agriculture census schedules list farms in each county. In addition to data on the livestock, crops, acreage, and value of the farm, the schedules give the name(s) of the owner, agent, or manager.
Similarly, the manufacturing census schedules provide details about the products and operations of manufacturing establishments as well as the name of the company or the name of the owner or manager.
The listings of agriculture and manufacturing establishments are grouped by county and district.
For more detail as well as information about the availability of agriculture and manufacturing schedules by state see Nonpopulation Census Records of the National Archives and Records Administration.
Ancestry Library Edition (in GALILEO@uga) provides the most complete collection digitally. Available off campus to UGA faculty, students, and staff. Other researchers must be on campus.
On the Ancestry Library Edition home page find the Search Census box and click Search Now. To browse the schedules in sequential order by county, scroll down to 'Included Data Collections' in the lower left and choose 'Selected U.S. Federal Census Non-Population Schedules, 1850-1880'. The 'Browse this collection' box will appear on the right side of the screen. Just follow the steps.
Alternate way to access: Main Library basement, Microfilm cabinets. Readers & digital scanner/printers are located near the elevators. See the grid below for call numbers and holdings.
