You will be assigned a citation style by your instructor. Citation styles explain how to give credit to your sources and allow others to find them, as well as give guidelines for formatting your paper.

APA -- Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 6th edition

Chicago -- Chicago Manual of Style, 14th edition

MLA -- MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers, 7th edition

Citations in Databases

Most of our databases help you cite the articles and books you find.  You do still have to proof read the citation and make sure it is correct (computers don't know if there is data missing), but it will normally have everything you need to cite something correctly.
