  5. Click Import.
  6. Click the File menu > Exit
  7. Open the "My Collection.Data" folder.
  8. If there is a PDF folder, copy it to the new .Data folder created with your EndNote Library. If you created a library titled "My EndNote Library," there will be a "My EndNote Library.Data" folder.
When you open the library in EndNote again, you will have the working attachments.

Convert Mendeley to EndNote in Word Document

EndNote's support page has instructions for this process; however, some steps seemed confusing and unnecessary. After having tried this in practice, here are Sandra Riggs' modified instructions.

  • Transfer all the references used in the paper from Mendeley Desktop to the EndNote library that you will now be using for the paper. See prior section.
  • With Mendeley Desktop open, download the "Mendeley-to-Endnote-Title.csl" file -- you will open the zip file to get to it. Open your styles with the path: View > Citation Styles > More Styles... (Citation Styles window below)
  • You can drag and drop the the file on the style list in the Installed tab. Here I've moved the Finder downloads window next to a resized Mendeley window so I can see both.

Drag and drop Mendeley to EndNote csl file

Now open Word.

  • Click the References tab, find the drop-down list of Styles and
