UGA students, faculty, and staff have remote access to millions of ebooks, many through HathiTrust's Emergency Temporary Access Service. Read the steps we suggest below to access these and other ebooks.
We can only offer the HathiTrust Emergency Temporary Access Service while our library buildings are closed due to copyright restrictions. When the Libraries reopen August 10, the service will be turned off and full access to our print collection restored. Our other ebook collections will remain available.
Step 1: Check for ebooks
Many print titles in our collection are also available as ebooks. Search for them in the GIL-Find catalog, filtering your results for "full access online."
Step 2: Check HathiTrust
If an ebook is unavailable in the GIL-Find catalog, search for it in HathiTrust. In HathiTrust, make sure to login as University of Georgia.
In HathiTrust, login as University of Georgia.
In your search results, select the Temporary Access or Full View links to access UGA-owned items.
You can check out items for 1 hour at a time. Items automatically renew after an hour.
Step 3: Suggest a purchase
Still can't find an ebook?
If the above steps do not provide access, you can request using Interlibrary Loan. For additional search support, you can reach out to a librarian through online chat, email (email@example.com), or by emailing your subject librarian.
