Mendeley: Citation Management

Mendeley is a free citation management program. It is NOT supported by UGA, as is EndNote, but it is an option.

Most Common Issues

Mendeley Client -- Microsoft Template and Add-in problems

  • Multiple citation managers are incompatible

If you have another citation management program installed on your computer, you will have to disable it in Word before Word will work with Mendeley. In the example below, EndNote is checked, but Mendeley is not. You would need to reverse this, and uncheck the EndNote Add-ins for Mendeley to work.

Uncheck the other citation management ".dotm" then click ok.

 

 

Compatibility issues

If you have a Mac, you need to use an operating system older than Big Sur. This should not be a problem for systems updated in 2022 or later.
